One Million Code to Community Released

25th January 2012

Inspired by the Free Software Movement, Federal Institute of Science And Technology (FISAT) has started the FISAT Free Software Cell (FFSC) in 2006. Team leader Mr. C Mahesh, Research Coordinator and and a former student of the college is the back bone of the project. During its journey of 6 years, FFSC has helped FISAT to evolve into one of the major hubs of free software enthusiasts. This student group has been successful in hosting at least one national event in every calendar year, where, developers from all around India share their experiences with the students. The community at FISAT has produced many projects inspired by the Free Software Movement. With an in-house developed cluster running entirely on Free Software, FISAT has shown the potential of free software and made a mark in the academic community in this region.
