One Million Code to Community Released
25th January 2012
Dr. Richard M Stallman, commonly know as rms among the community, launched the free software movement in 1983 and started the development of the GNU operating system (see www.gnu.org) in 1984. GNU is free software: everyone has the freedom to copy it and redistribute it, with or without changes. It has been a revolution since then and gained strength day after day. The free software movement has changed the way software is looked upon. The growth of the free software movement is accredited to the contributions of many thousands of committed developers around the world.
