Makers Workshop Organised

Makers Workshop, organised by Kerala Technological University in association with FISAT gave a new perspective to technology education in Kerala. The workshop aimed at empowering engineering teachers with entrepreneurial abilities so that that they instill innovative and entrepreneurial abilities among students. The workshop focused on outcome based learning styles and to offer practical solutions to real time problems by conceiving ideas and converting them into market products meeting the demands of the industry. Thirty two teachers from various engineering colleges assembled in FISAT, grouped into eight, deliberated on this for first three days and given hands on training. On the fourth day, each group has launched their own product. Expert Committee reviewed the products commented that few of them are exceptionally good in market situations and can go for patenting. In the closing session, Dr. M Abdul Rehman, Pro Vice Chancellor, KTU said that IEDC in FISAT has done a commendable job by conceiving the idea of “Makers Workshop” for the college teachers. He added that KTU will take steps to organise such workshops throughout the engineering colleges. Mr. Paul Mundadan, Chairman FISAT Governing body said that FISAT will be a Entrepreneurs Hub and by 2020 there will be at least 100 startups in FISAT Campus. FISAT IEDC Nodal Officer Jibi Varghese and Conveners Mr. K R Sreejith and Tom Anto informed that FISAT will be nodal centre for organising Makers Workshop throughout the state.
