Astronaut Sunita Williams inaugurates IEEE lecture series

Astronaut Sunita Williams inaugurated IEEE lecture series hosted by IEEE India Council at FISAT. She made a virtual appearance through Skype organised by IEEE India Council. In a very inspiring one hour interaction, the famous NASA astronaut who holds records for seven space walks by a woman shared her lighter side to young audience eagerly waiting for her words.
The event was hosted by Mr. Arjun R Pillai, Global Member, Benefits Portfolio Committee, IEEE. Sunita accommodated the request of IEEE and identified a time slot in the early morning in US so that she can interact with the students at 5:30 in the evening in India. Sunita, in her bright blue uniform of NASA, wished “Namasthe” and a good day to the audience and the session came to a close at 6:30pm, India. The program was beamed across to 17 colleges from FISAT and was viewed by more than 1000 students across the country. Programs like these are golden opportunity for students as well as faculty to get inspired, remarked Mr. Praveen V, the IEEE student branch counsellor at FISAT. The technical support for the program was provided by Mr. Anand J and Mr. Jibin Sabu, IEEE Volunteers.
